This bend in the river a very significant place for us. My brother swims here whenever he can. He finds it restorative and seems to go into some sort of reverie as he breast strokes against the river’s current. The title is from a favourite Nick Drake song;
I never saw the truth hanging from the door
And now I’m older, see it face to face
And now I’m older, gotta get up, clean the place
Where flowers grow and the sun shone still
Now I’m darker than the deepest sea
Just hand me down, give me a place to be
I thought I’d see when day was done
Now I’m weaker than the palest blue
Oh, so weak in this need for you
